Furniture

Everybody, please give a warm welcome to Colleen!

The name Colleen was decided on upon delivery of this herringbone, four post legged table. Colleen was the client’s grandmother’s name. The base was made using what’s known as a castle joint. Interlocking at every corner/post. The top was finished with a blend of stains (English chestnut, Early American, and Colonial Maple) and finished with three layers of matte polyurethane.

Thanks for the order Julianna! Enjoy your new table!

Another trio!

Ed, Edd, and Eddy.

Made of yellow poplar, this coffee table and end table set began as a flash of inspiration. Just happened to stack a few boards on my work table and I caught a glimpse of something in the way the natural lines laid out. So I tweaked it and here they are! The poplar was salvaged and milled from the Altamaha River Basin in Appling County GA. No colors or stains added, these guys are all natural colors! Legs are modern style hairpin.

Well hello there Julia!
.
Julia, is a farmhouse table made for the brother of the owner of Phil, the buffet I posted last week.
Julia’s table top is made from reclaimed heart pine from Henry County. Salvaged from the family’s “tent” (a dirt floor cabin) at Shingleroof Campground. The family wanted several pieces made from the wood that their grandad used to build the cabin and large rustic table.

Everyone say Hi to Gilbert...
“Hi Gilbert”
This little console table was made of White Oak, salvaged from my family’s farm in South Georgia. The tree was blown down by Hurricane Michael in 2018 and we trudged through the creek and dragged it out. A friend of mine milled it for me. Beautiful colors and grains! This was the piece from the video I posted the other day. Some spalting around the edge.

UNCLE PHIL!!
Meet Phil.
Phil began as a 10.5ft table built by my client’s grandfather (see picture of before I took it apart). It was built for the family’s “tent” or small house/cabin at Shingleroof Campground in Henry County GA. Look it up, cool place with a lot of history!
I was tasked with dismantling the table and turning it into a more usable piece of furniture, while saving the rustic look and preserving family memories of times at the campground. It was a large task, due to the limited amount of matching wood and multiple items the family wanted out of it. It’s mainly made of yellow poplar.
I’m very happy with how it’s turned out and the client, while she hasn’t seen it in person, has seen pictures. It’ll be shipped to Texas very soon.
Oh and that’s my little Josie that wanted to be in the picture.

I present to you Cecil!
Cecil is the first piece made from the old log house I’m tearing down in South Georgia where I grew up.
Inspiration for the build was to make a piece that represented the old house and looked like a piece of furniture that has been handed down for generations.
It’s all reclaimed wood. 98% heart pine, which you can guess is a favorite of mine!!
Cecil is a 6.5ft long, solid window storage bench, and yes, he’s heavy! Smells great too!

Meet Lucy
Lucy was a large white oak on my family’s farm in South GA. Hurricane Michael blew threw in October 2018 and knocked down a lot of trees. We cut them up, dragged them out of the woods and had them milled into boards and slabs. This is the first large piece dry enough to use!! All natural colors. No stains. Look at those grains!
Lucy is live edge, poly coated. 30” tall x 48” long and 15” wide.

Mmmmm Merle

Merle is a cedar live edge slab table. Hair pin legs. Look at her colors!! Merle started out as a large cedar tree buddy’s yard near Auburn Alabama. Merle had been down for around 10yrs from a storm, before I retrieved it. Then she was milled in South Georgia in May of this year. 10 years of laying in the yard caused a few voids that needed to be filled. Turned out naturally beautiful!!

Say hi to little Lorelei

This small table was a process! All material from my shop and the base was made entirely from scraps off the burn pile. Pine, cedar, cherry, birch, yellow/rainbow poplar, chestnut, teak, heart pine, and red oak.

Reminds me of Rivendell or The Shire... you?? I love the colors in the base and the slightly spalted cherry top turned out better than I’d imagined! The edges still have the saw marks.

Introducing Dewey!

Dewey was another desk born out of necessity! He’s made out of Altamaha River basin Cypress from South East Georgia and red cedar reclaimed from a deck demo. All natural colors! No stains or filters added. Dewey was adopted today and taken to his forever home!!

Meet Cov-Edna

Little Cov-Edna was born out of desperation. Working from home without a desk isn’t the best. This desk can be transformed from a desk to a display/foyer table by a simply adding the bottom shelf. The bottom shelf, when not in use, can be stored in the back, underneath the top.

Built from South GA Altamaha river Cypress and Black Walnut.

Say hi to Remy & Martin!

These two side tables were made from boards that were headed to the dump!! Made of cedar, from a neighbor’s deck rebuild. I posted pics of some scavenged 2x10 boards, covered in paint and full of nails. Now they will live on, on a new porch!

Meet Winnie, Christopher, & Robin!

This 3 piece set was delivered last Friday. 67”x43” coffee table and two 6’x27” sofa tables made entirely out of cypress. Used a dark walnut stain and a couple coats of matte poly to protect them.
Thanks Lauren and Rich for the order! So happy you guys loved the outcome!

Say hi to Doreen!!
She’s a big one.
8ftx4ft herring bone table with a bench built to slide under the table when not in use!
It’s all Douglas fir, solid, and heavy! Client wanted a four legged table base with a cross board to prop her feet on, herring bone top, and a bench.
Had to come up with a way to make the bench full length AND have it where it’d slide under the table. They loved it! Enjoy!!

Meet Ellis.

This was certainly a labor of love. Build this cabinet or sideboard, for my parents, for their new home.
Built entirely out of Douglas fir, this guy is stout. Two cabinets with adjustable shelves and three drawers.
I call the color “worn denim.”
It’s a color I made from several layers and stains.
It’s 5ft long, 18 inches deep, and 40 inches tall.

I present to you....
Peggy!!

To wrap up a previous post... I posted a “in progress” build picture back in July. Just got it delivered to its home!!
Built it for my parents and named after my grandmother. It’s a 6ft x 3ft red oak/Douglas fir table.
The top is Red Oak, base is Douglas Fir. The stain was a labor of love. Multiple shades and blends to give it an aged look, but still blend with their more modern decor.
The folks are moving into a new home. Can’t wait for family nights and Thanksgivings around this piece!!

I present to you... Betty

Betty is a multi-use desk, couch table, or foyer table. Made from Douglas Fir frame and Red Oak top and shelves. Betty is 6ft long, 18 inches wide, and 29.5 inches tall. (6’x18”x29.5”)
With decorative metal storage baskets and two drawers for storage.
Betty has multiple layers of stain and colors that blended together to give an aged look but still has a modern look with clean lines.

Say hi to Vinny!!

Vinny has been a project swirling in my head for a while! Finally finished. Vinny is a wall hanging/mounting wine opener and glass holder. Vinny’s background is a solid piece heartpine from a very old barn in South Georgia. The framing is made from South Georgia Cypress from the Altamaha River area.

The wines displayed are from a north GA winery @stonewallcreekvineyards

I highly recommend a visit!

Meet Eloise
This trestle base, round top table was made from Douglas Fir. I used an aging method on the wood. Finished with dark walnut stain and a satin poly coat on the top. Made specifically for a client in the Virginia Highlands. They loved it and I’m happy to be a part of future parties, meal times, and game nights! Congrats to the owners and enjoy!

Meet Huey, Dewey, & Louie

Nesting Tables
Found this set of table bases a while back, the tops were missing.
Built the top out of rough cut pine. Routed the edges and stained/polyed the tops.

Introducing Rose...

Inspired by the wildflower garden surrounding it, this decorative potting bench w/cabinet, is waiting to be put to work this spring! Need/want a new potting bench? Let me know!!

Introducing Sal

Sal was built for my brother-in-law, as an anniversary gift, and named after him! This small side table was made with cedar legs and a yellow poplar top. The top colors are all nature made!

Meet Willie.

Willie is a record player display and storage cabinet w/ a sliding front door. Made of white pine and yellow poplar, Willie was picked up by his parents this morning! He’ll be spinning that vintage sound of clarity with a slight hiss tonight!

Meet Peaty!

Peaty began life as a whiskey barrel @ Heaven Hill Distillery and then was reused @ Monday Night Brewing in Atlanta for their bourbon barrel beer! The char on the table top/barrel lid is the original char and has been covered with poly to protect it. The Georgia was carved into the char revealing the oak underneath. Metal bands, staves and the lid were all from the same barrel.
Wormy chestnut was used for the table top base

Meet Randy!!

Randy found his forever home this morning with Tara and Ben!
The base was made by my brother-in-law Josh England. The top was made from rough cut pine and stained various shades of grey, white, and silver.
Congrats guys and thanks for the order! Enjoy!

Built a desktop for a standing desk. Used Yellow poplar and used it’s natural colors and grains. Enjoy Philip!

I present to you Miriam.
This Amish dough bowl caught my eye and I managed to get my hands on it. It needed a home and a place to be displayed!
The main bowl (handles and all) is one continuous solid piece cut from the trunk of an old pine. All the repairs are original, even the leather tacked over two of the handles. The end grains are visible and after counting them I found the tree to be around 150yrs old when it was cut!
The base is made from American Chestnut, Long Leaf Pine, and Cypress (from a South GA tobacco barn).
It’s put together using no screws or nails. All hand cut mortise and tenon joints.
The hand made bowl inspired me to use my hand planes, spokeshave, and hand sanding!
Leather straps are supporting the bowl.
Enjoy!

Meet Gino…

Top frame is reclaimed American Chestnut (the only way it’s available!) with reclaimed metal grate inset. Glass top, all covering a charred pine base. Unique and a conversation piece for sure!

Introducing Maurice!

Window seat with storage built with reclaimed bead board, heart pine, yellow poplar, & cedar.
Custom ordered and delivered to the happy customer!
Enjoy your new piece Brandon!

Julia

Julia is made of tongue and groove reclaimed yellow poplar table with glass top. "Pecky Pine" drawers with hairpin legs. Pecky Pine is created by a natural fungus. Couldn’t cover up that natural beauty!

Say hello to Harriet!

Lighted corner shelf and wine rack. Holds up to 20 bottles.
Inspiration was from the reclaimed poplar corner beam from a porch roof. It had a 90 degree cut on one side and the natural tree trunk curve on the other side, creating the spine of the cabinet. The decorative framing, back ground strips, and top shelves are made of cedar. The wine rack is made from white pine. And the made shelf top is heart pine from a old barn in South Georgia.

I present… Robin

This coat rack/shoe hutch was a selfish build. I needed a spot for my boots, hat, and coat! Purchased these beauties from a historic renovation in progress near Inman park/Edgewood ave. Date around 1920s. Had to fight with layers and layers of paint. The seat is made from reclaimed cypress.
All visible paint is original! Didn’t have the heart to remove all the pretty colored layers underneath

Geraldine

This queen bed head-board, foot-board, and frame were built for a friend of mine. Using new lumber, I had to age it using various tricks. Added colors as well to have it match her bedspread and room decor.
